match Report: Valiant Valencia CF return to winning ways amidst heartfelt tribute (4-2)
Heartfelt and valiant home win dedicated to the victims and those affected by the flash floods.
Valencia CF have presented the club’s response to the request by the plenary session of the Consell, made on December 16th, 2021 for a financially guaranteed proposal for the completion of the new stadium and the meeting of the ATE’s previsions.
A project for the city, Valencia CF and the fans
The club, as expressed by President Anil Murthy at the Ordinary General Shareholders' Meeting, has “all the ingredients" to restart construction work in October 2022, and a complete predisposition to jointly make a reality this important project for Valencia CF, the fans, citizens of Valencia and residents of Benicalap.
The construction of the new stadium is a great growth opportunity for Valencia CF, who over recent months have presented a concept to the Generalitat Valenciana and Ayuntamiento de Valencia city council that will maintain the characteristic features of the current Mestalla stadium, whilst having greater utility on non-match days and a clear commitment to technology and innovation that will make it a more experiential stadium for fans.
A new stadium concept with activity every day
The new stadium project, which Valencia CF will present to its fans in more detail upon reception of the relevant licenses from the administration, is inspired by the city and Mediterranean culture and is based on three strategic pillars: A memorable experience adapted to lifestyle; connectivity and innovation; and hospitality and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events), which will be segmented with attractions for all audiences.
Valencia CF have worked to offer a unique project, with a second ring dedicated to leisure, restaurants and hospitality areas, that will become a point of reference in Spanish football and the city.
100% sustainable: A green energy production centre within the city
In addition, work is being undertaken so that the project can become 100% sustainable, with a complete solar roof developed in collaboration with a technological partner. With this, the more than 300 days of sunshine per year that the city of Valencia enjoy will be used for the production of green energy, supplying not only the stadium, but also the local neighbourhood.
The new stadium will begin with a capacity comparable to that of the current Mestalla stadium, with the possibility of a flexible and fast expansion -subject to demand- to up to 70,000 seats.
A significant economic impact on the city of Valencia
The construction of this stadium, for which 172 million euros have already been invested, will reach 287 million euros by its opening and will exceed 350 million euros once the entire project is completed. From the moment that construction resumes, it will generate a direct economic impact on the city of Valencia, with a construction budget for the new stadium land of more than 200 million euros over the next three years. In addition, land at where the present Mestalla is located will be developed, which will entail a construction cost of another 200 million euros. Overall, the project will generate 10 years of activity in the city of Valencia.
Completion of the new stadium is projected within 20 to 22 months from the moment the work restarts. This project, together with the construction of a sports centre adapted to the needs of the neighbourhood, will boost commercial activity in the area, help consolidate the Benicalap area of the city and generate large multiplier effects in terms of growth, creation of new jobs, tax revenue for the administration and environmental benefits, and will lead to all kinds of new projects based around these two important developments.
